To say that Dubai is undergoing a building boom is as big an understatement as to say that it gets quite hot in the Middle East! There are many grand designs currently under construction in Dubai including The Palm, a man-made island in the shape of a palm tree; The World, an arrangement of 300 islands laid out to resemble a global map; the world's tallest tower; the world's first underwater hotel; and the £15 billion Dubailand development, which will incorporate a theme park, 30 hotels, 1,500 restaurants, Dubai Sports City and many residential developments. And I could go on but I think you get the picture. Go to Dubai now and pretty much wherever you look, you'll see a forest of half-built tower blocks, and round the clock building work.

So wouldn't it be better to wait a few years before visiting or apartment investing I hear you say? Well, it really depends on whether you are a glass-is-half-empty or half-full type of person. You can get in now before the real boom starts or wait until there comes a time when all the cranes have left and building has stopped, which to be honest might not be in our lifetime! With its perfect winter-sun climate, fine white-sand beaches and superb hotels, Dubai already has lots to offer, and is already pulling in visitors in vast numbers - over six million arrived last year, with the highest proportion from any one country coming from the UK.
